History of our auction house

August Dobiaschofsky arrived in Bern together with his family before the First World War. In 1923, he opened an art store that included a gilding and frames workshop, later transformed into a gallery. When his son Hans Dobiaschofsky took over the successful family business in the late 50’s, he implemented his idea of an auction house and on April 10 and 11, 1959, he carried out the first art and antiques auction. After approximately 70 auction sales over the following 3 decades, in 1989, the Dobiaschofsky Gallery found in Marius J. Heer the new owner. The latter knew then how to establish himself on the art market, surrounded by four art historians and a committed team. During the most recent annual auction sales that took place early May and early November, around 4000 items were auctioned, including Swiss artworks, international paintings, modern illustrations, posters, antiques and jewelry.

Dobiaschofsky Auktionen AG is located on Monbijou street. Our house has its own framing workshop and is noted as one of the most reputable Swiss addresses in the painting, graphic art and antiques field.

Our team is always discreetly at your disposal to advise you or research on your artwork. We voluntarily come for home appraisals of unique valuable items or your large-scale collections.
